Bastrop entrepreneur Melissa Hayes launched Melissa Kay Artistry in February, combining her passion for photography and makeup.

“The two go well together,” she said. “Because I do makeup and hair, I have an eye for that perfect shot.”

Some context

Hayes said beauty and photography have always gone hand in hand, noting that her love for makeup began at age 4 with a Tinkerbell makeup kit.

"Photography was my second love," she said. "I entered my first photo contest at 14 and lost ‘because I didn’t have a professional camera,’ but I never gave up."

What they offer

Hayes said she specializes in portraits and weddings, partnering with other local photographers and makeup artists to accommodate larger wedding parties.

“I am very passionate about weddings,” Hayes said. “I am currently working with some amazing local businesses on a Bastrop Wedding Pros project, where I am showcasing local businesses that offer services that brides are looking for.”

What else?

Hayes is crowdfunding for a brick-and-mortar location. Until then, she travels to clients.
