Bastrop is poised to gain another grocery store after specialty grocery retailer Sprouts Farmers Market opens in mid-2026. Construction is set to begin on the $6 million project within the soon-to-come Burleson Crossing East—near the highly anticipated Kohl’s Bastrop.

The gist

According to a permit filed on Jan. 28 with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the Sprouts Farmers Market team will begin construction on the 23,349-square-foot store on March 1, with an anticipated one-year completion.

The filing comes two months after city officials told Community Impact that the grocery store was headed to Bastrop.

What to expect

Sprouts Farmers Market offers a variety of fresh produce, meat and seafood. According to a previous news release, Sprouts encourages healthy eating by stocking its stores with farm-to-table foods from local producers with organic, plant-based and gluten-free options.

Other options include:
  • Natural body care and household cleaning supplies
  • Bulk food items like nuts, dried fruit and vegetables
  • Vitamins and supplements
  • Baked goods
What else?

Burleson Crossing East will span 20 acres adjacent to Burleson Crossing Shopping Center. The final plat was approved at the July Bastrop Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

Although groundbreaking has not been set, Bastrop Public Information Officer Colin Guerra said in a previous interview that stores within the shopping center should begin opening in late 2025.
