Local couple Emanuel Pena and his wife Yuri Corral opened a family-oriented eatery specializing in crepes and coffees in Burleson Crossing. Tecuen features a range of sweet and savory crepes, coffees, teas and juices. Customers can either create their own crepe from a list of 22 ingredients, or choose from one of the house specialties. Bastrop resident Collin Hubble opened the retreat and event center to provide a space for weekend getaways and special occasions like weddings, family reunions, corporate events and more. The pet-friendly property fills 11 acres with waterfront access, and offers nine rooms, while the event space can accommodate up to 150 people.Lavanderia

The new laundromat opened in Bastrop on April 4. The business has 32 washers and 46 dryers. They offer self-service and drop-off services. Wash and fold services cost $1.49 per pound for both same-day and next-day deliveries.MoBull Detailing

The car detailing shop opened July 1 and services all types of vehicles. The shop offers full interior and exterior details, paint correction, ceramic coatings and more. A representative from the business said detailing services start at $100 and extra services start at $30.Coming Soon

Family-owned Dockside Boiling Pot will fill the former Cedars Mediterranean and Italian Grill, which closed after owner, chef, and longtime Bastrop resident Khalil Younes passed away on Jan. 11.

Owners Roland Barrera and Dan Mages built the all-organic, locally sourced eatery inside a 31-foot Airstream travel trailer. The farm-to-table, grab-and-go breakfast taco concept uses ingredients such as non-GMO, grass-fed brisket; Oaxaca smoked queso; beef chorizo; nopales; and farm-fresh eggs. Elon Musk’s Montessori-style school opens in the fall with a focus on science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM. Nestled within Hyperloop Plaza, programming will be split into two programs for ages 3-6 and 6-9.Blakes Music Shop


Local owner Gary Blake will relocate from downtown Bastrop to the Colorado Crossing Shopping Center to offer a more expansive selection of instruments and accessories, increasing the square footage of the shop from 600 to 5,000. Originally slated to open in spring 2025, Austin Retina spokesperson Pam Shipley said the clinic will move from 1106 College Street to 627 Hwy. 71 W.—next to Crossroads Animal Hospital—ahead of schedule. Shipley said the move will give them more room, allowing the clinic to treat a larger number of patients using cutting-edge technology.Expansions

The latest phase of Bastrop H-E-B’s expansion plans began in July with a temporary grocery-side entrance, along with a relocated curbside area and dairy section as part of the grocery store’s $30 million project, which will include a True Texas BBQ restaurant. Other upcoming renovations shopping can expect include more pharmacy space, expanded produce area, renovated meat and seafood markets, upgraded refrigeration cases and more.In The News

Leo’s Italian Grill


The local Italian restaurant celebrated their fifth anniversary on May 7. They first opened doors to the Bastrop community in May 2019. The menu features Leo Gaertner’s family recipes and includes dishes such as granny’s lasagna pie, meatball sliders with homemade Hawaiian bread rolls and Italian cream cake.Closings

Owner Jose Gerardo Cavazos temporarily closed his food truck at Community Gardens, which served Northern Mexican food with a twist. Cavazos said he hopes to reopen the truck at a new location sometime in September.
