Second Chance Prom

United Way of Williamson County hosts the event for attendees to redo their high school prom while raising money to improve the health, education and financial stability of Williamson County families. The event includes dinner, dancing, drinks, a live auction, the crowning of a king and queen, and a
lip-sync contest.

Relay For Life

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to fight every cancer in every community. The grassroots, community-based team event will include a caregivers lap, survivors lap and luminaria ceremony.

American Heart Association HeartSavers CPR Classes

Williamson County EMS will offer American Heart Association CPR and First Aid classes to the public this weekend. These classes are open to anyone with a desire to learn how to save a life or act in a medical emergency.

CLASS: HeartSaver First Aid Class (adult) or HeartSaver CPR AED Class (adult, child, infant)
TIME: 8 a.m.-noon, 1-5:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Williamson County EMS Clinical Practices Building, 321 W. 8th Street, Georgetown

Family Fun Day
Saturday, April 22
Families of all ages are invited to the event that will feature an afternoon of intergenerational activities. The event is an appreciation for older Americans and all they have done to enrich our communities. The public is invited to enjoy ice cream making, fishing demonstrations, face painting, handcrafts, photo booth, woodworking demonstrations, games, dancing, and more. The Sun City Cloggers will also perform in the historic courthouse, and tours of the courthouse will be held at 1,2 and 3 p.m.

First annual Chili Cook Off

Texas Capital Chapter 1919 Military Order of the Purple Heart will host its first annual chili cook off this Saturday, rain or shine. The event features chili judging and tasting and live music from "Back In Stride," playing Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, The Four Tops and others from the 60's.

Woof Walk and Wrun

The eighth annual 5K and third annual Cat Nap Challenge is hosted by the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter. Supporters are able to walk, run or sleep in to help animals in need. Funds
raised go toward the urgent outside veterinary care needed by sick and injured animals brought to the shelter.

Holocaust Remembrance Day

Congregation Havurah Shalom and the Georgetown Public Library will mark Holocaust Remembrance Day with a screening and moderated discussion of the documentary film “Defying the Nazis: The Sharps’ War.”

“Defying the Nazis” tells the story of Waitstill and Martha Sharp, an American minister and his wife. Over the course of two years, the Sharps made journeys to Europe where they rescued numerous refugees fleeing the Nazi occupations in Europe.

“Defying the Nazis” explores the Sharps’ work as well as the toll of their efforts on their own lives and those of their children, who were left in the care of their congregation in Massachusetts.

Bowling with Badges 
Sunday, April 23
Georgetown and Round Rock police officers will support local Special Olympics Texas athletes at Mel’s Lone Star Lanes next weekend. The inaugural Bowling with Badges event is open to the public and will feature members of the community, police officers and SOTX athletes bowling together.

The entry fee is $30 per person and $120 per team.  The fee includes two games, shoe rental and a t-shirt. Team Registration also includes one large pizza. Day-of-Event registration will also be offered, starting at 1 p.m.
