Drops of grace—a nonprofit partnering with organizations and communities throughout the world to provide safe water, sanitation, health, education and shelter—hosted its annual fundraising banquet in Sun City on March 5. The organization also works on restoration and rebuilding projects after natural disasters in the U.S.
The banquet included a silent auction, dinner and a keynote presentation from Chief Theresa Malila, founder and executive director of Somebody Cares Ministries in Malawi, Africa.
Zion Lutheran Church and School ground breaking
Zion Lutheran Church and School, 6101 FM 1105, hosted a ground breaking ceremony March 27 for a new science lab and art classroom.
The new classrooms are part of the church’s plans, which also include expanding the sanctuary as well as its entry and lobby.
Georgetown Swirl
The city of Georgetown’s Main Street Program hosted the seventh annual Georgetown Swirl on March 5 on the Square.
Participants tasted Texas wines while sampling food from local restaurants at various businesses throughout downtown.
The event helps raise funds for the Main Street Program’s Facade & Sign Grant Program, which has awarded more than $320,000 to downtown property and business owners.
The event was awarded the President’s Award from the Texas Downtown Association in 2012 for best promotional event.
