4 things to know this week in Spring and Klein, July 3-7
Public offices and facilities will be closed Tuesday for Independence Day, and several venues plan fireworks displays.
Independence Day falls on a Tuesday this week, and celebratory events are planned in Spring, Klein and throughout the Greater Houston area.
- Several Spring and Klein locations offer fireworks displays Tuesday at dusk, including the Raveneaux Country Club, Wet'N'Wild SplashTown and several public parks.
- The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office and Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman ask residents not to set off personal fireworks displays and attend a professional event instead. They also offer a number of general safety tips for fireworks use.
- County offices, the Barbara Bush Branch Library, Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts and area chambers of commerce are closed Tuesday for Independence Day.
- Several activities are scheduled at the Mangum-Howell Center at 2500 Frick Road, Houston, this week. Zumbatomic, a fitness program for children, begins 10 a.m. Wednesday and runs through July 26. A painted jar craft class is held at 10 a.m. Thursday, and a free archery class for children ages 9-15 begins at 9 a.m. Friday. One-hour archery classes are held Fridays through July 28.
