A petition to legalize all alcohol sales in the city of Frisco was submitted to the the city late last week.

Frisco’s Office of the City Secretary received a petition from Texas Petition Strategies, which was retained by the Political Action Committee Frisco Committee for Economic Growth. There are approximately 15,150 signatures on the petition.

The committee said more than three weeks ago that it had more than enough signatures but was waiting for the right time to turn in the petition.

The deadline to submit the petition was Aug. 24 to be considered for the May election.

City Secretary Jenny Page and her staff have until Sept. 21 to verify the signatures. Once verified Page must present petition to the Frisco City Council at the Oct. 6 regular meeting.

If enough signatures belong to Frisco registered voters, the issue would go to voters in May.
