Local assistance organization nationally recognized by US Department of Housing and Urban Development

At the height of the coronavirus pandemic—from April to June—the nonprofit saw a 1,043% increase in demand for hunger-relief services from clients, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper.

“We are seeing a significant increase in need from this year, which we are expecting to continue for quite some time and are excited for the possibilities of [Community Assistance Center] becoming an EnVision Center will bring to our organization,” Landers said.

While the designation does not provide additional funding to the center, HUD spokesperson Scott Hudman said the EnVision Center program allows recognized organizations greater access to other federal agencies and partnerships.

“EnVision Centers are a way to connect local resources with the people who need them the most,” said Michael Burley, regional administrator for the US Department of Housing and Development. “From social service resources to job training classes, vital services will be provided that will have an unimaginable impact on the lives of the people being helped.”
