The deadline to file a protest for annual property value appraisals is May 31 in Montgomery County. Here are some frequently asked questions from the Montgomery Central Appraisal District to help homeowners better understand the process.
1. What can homeowners do if they disagree with the appraised home value?
A homeowner can request an informal meeting with an appraiser. If an agreement is not reached, then a homeowner can file a written protest by mail, in person or online for a hearing before the Appraisal Review Board. Evidence during the scheduled hearing must be presented in person, by an authorized agent or by affidavit. Members of the review board will then issue an order determining the property value.

4. Is the age of a home taken into consideration?
