Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough conducted the swearing-in of Joe Summerlin Jr. as the new Position 2 council member for the city of Shenandoah on Dec. 11 following the resignation of longtime council member Ted Fletcher.

Summerlin was nominated by City Council on Nov. 13 following Fletcher's resignation Nov. 5 due to "personal and professional reasons" in a letter to City Council.
What's next?
Summerlin will serve out Fletcher's remaining time in Position 2 until the position is up for election once again in May. Summerlin was nominated by Mayor John Escoto, and has not announced if he will seek election to the seat in May.
The next council meeting will be held Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers, 29955 I-45 N., Shenandoah.
