Early voting begins April 20 for the May 2 elections. In The Woodlands area, this includes races in Shenandoah and Oak Ridge North as well as the seat representing Texas Senate District 4.
Shenandoah City Council
Residents will see Shenandoah council positions 1 and 5 on the ballot along with the race for mayor, according to the city of Shenandoah’s election website. Incumbent Ron Raymaker will not seek reelection for Position 1.
For the mayoral race, candidates are:
- John Escoto, incumbent
- Ron Raymaker
Candidates for Position 1 are:
- Gary Henson
- Ernest N. Sumrall
Candidates for Position 5 are:
- Frank Robinson, incumbent
- David Teague
Oak Ridge North City Council
Residents will see Oak Ridge North City Council places 1 and 2 on the ballot, along with the race for mayor. City Council incumbents Rick Moffatt and Alex Jones are running uncontested, according to the city of Oak Ridge North’s election website.
For the mayoral race, candidates are:
- Paul Bond, incumbent
- Russell S. Dudley
Texas Senate District 4
Brandon Creighton vacated the seat after being named the chancellor and CEO of the Texas Tech University System. Candidates for the District 4 seat are:
- Ron Angeletti (D)
- Brett W. Ligon (R)
Dates to know
April 20: first day of early voting. Last day to apply for ballot by mail (received, not postmarked)
April 28: last day of early voting
May 2: election day and the last day to receive ballot by mail (or May 4 if carrier envelope is postmarked by 7 p.m. at location of election on election day)
Where to vote
In both Harris and Montgomery counties, voters can cast their ballot at any polling location during early voting. However, on election day, Montgomery County voters must vote at their designated voting precincts while Harris County voters can cast their ballot at any polling location.
