Dimitri Fetokakis, owner of Niko Niko's Greek restaurant, said the new location at the former Luby's in The Woodlands is expected to be open by April 2024.
The restaurant, which has locations in Montrose and Memorial/Spring Branch, announced last year it would build a new location in The Woodlands.
Fetokakis said in a Dec. 7 phone interview that construction is progressing and the floor slab has been placed in the kitchen.
"We're starting from scratch," he said. "We're just using the walls."
Plumbing, electrical wiring and other elements will all be replaced, he said.
The restaurant is aiming for a March or April opening and it will offer the same menu as the Montrose location, he said, though there may initially be a smaller menu in the opening days.
The restaurant offers Greek cuisine such as gyros, pita sandwiches, salads, soups and souvlaki as well as appetizers, desserts and burgers.
