Residential speed limits lowered to 20 mph in The Woodlands

Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack said during the July 11 meeting: “My job is to do whatever I can to make this community as safe as possible. And if you're inconvenienced by having to take another 15 seconds for every quarter of a mile you drive going 20 miles an hour, then I don't think that's asking too much.”

Precinct 2 Commissioner Charlie Riley said, “In the villages themselves, you know I've got roads that are 30 [mph] and some roads that are 20 [mph] in the same village, and I think this is a way to go clean this up and make it all 20 mph so it's less confusing on somebody who's trying to do traffic control or trying to do patrol in these villages.”

What’s next

Montgomery County commissioners approved the change in a 4-1 vote, and work will begin later this year to replace all speed limit signs in neighborhoods across the township to reflect the change.
