The Woodlands Township will consider a tax abatement request from Alight Solutions for a proposed new office building and parking garage at its March 21 meeting, according to the
agenda posted on the township website.
According to a letter from Alight Solutions to township President and General Manager Don Norrell dated March 12 and posted on the township website, Alight’s lease for its current location expires in March 2020. In the letter, the company states it is prepared to partner with the Howard Hughes Corporation to build a 180,000 square foot facility on New Trails Drive which would retain 950 jobs in the area for the next 10 years. The letter is posted as supporting material to the township agenda item.
Alight Solutions is currently located at 9500 Lakeside Blvd., The Woodlands. The company provides services such as health benefit administration and human resources services, according to its
website.
The agenda item states that the township does not consider a tax abatement request unless it is first approved by the county, which Montgomery County Commissioners Court did on Feb. 26.
The item describes a proposal for a four-story, 180,000-square-foot office building with a 115,000-square-foot parking garage, which would be leased to Alight.
The total value of the land and improvements after construction is estimated at $30.4 million, according to information on the township website.
The proposal asks for a tax abatement of 100 percent through 2026, 80 percent in 2027, 60 percent in 2028 and 40 percent in 2029, according to the agenda item.
The abatement, if granted, would apply to the certified appraised value of the property in excess of its base year value, $3,453,980, according to information on the township website.
The board of directors meeting is held at 6 p.m. at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd., The Woodlands.
