Updated Jan. 17, 1:18 p.m.: Work on Sugar Creek Center Boulevard scheduled to take place starting Jan. 21 is postponed, according to the city. Construction crews will close portions of lanes in each direction along Sugar Creek Center Boulevard. The four-lane boulevard has a median in the center. Crews will be reducing the roadway to one lane in each direction, and traffic will continue in both directions during the entire project, according to city officials. Closures between Hwy. 59 and Commerce Green Boulevard are expected to last about one week, according to the city of Sugar Land. Crews are performing work as part of the city’s sanitary sewer collection system rehabilitation project aimed at addressing sanitary sewer overflows experienced along Sugar Creek Center Boulevard during heavy storm events, as well as updating mains and manholes affected by high levels of deterioration, grade deficiencies or point failures, the city reported.
