Fort Bend County launches COVID-19 mega test site in Sugar Land

A new mega testing site is now open in Fort Bend County.

Fort Bend County Health & Human Services is now administering COVID-19 tests at a new drive-thru testing site at Bravos River Park, 18427 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, the county announced on Jan. 6.

The county has opened the mega site citing an exponential increase in public demand for COVID-19 testing services.

“It is important for residents to have as many options as possible to obtain information regarding their health status and follow up appropriately,” the county said in the announcement. “We remind residents who are experiencing symptoms to see their health care provider.”

From Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fort Bend County will administer the tests, though the county is asking residents to register for an appointment through its online scheduler, found here.

The opening of the mega site comes as Fort Bend County has reported 8,963 new cases over the last four days, from Jan. 2-5. That is among some of the highest numbers of new COVID-19 cases in a four-day span since the pandemic began, according to a COVID-19 data dashboard from Fort Bend County Health & Human Services. On Jan. 3, the county reported the highest single-day increase in cases since the pandemic began, at 5,968 new cases.
