Missouri City's Municipal Court has launched three new incentives to make city services easier, faster and more convenient for residents, Municipal Court Director Stacy Froeschner announced in a May 28 Facebook video.
The details
The three new tools and procedures focus on convenience, communications and customer service, including:
1. Text message notification system
Defendants with a valid phone number on file can receive text message notifications for:
- Upcoming payment deadlines
- Scheduled court dates
- Default notices
- Outstanding warrants
Each text will include the defendant's name and a direct link to the city's website for payment and other options, Froeschner said.
2. Email document delivery
The court will now provide electronic distribution of receipts, court documents and attorney correspondence via email, which aims to allow involved parties to receive important documents quickly and efficiently, Froeschner said.
3. Streamlined case processing through standing orders
The Municipal Court also implemented judicial standing orders, which authorize clerks to process qualifying cases without requiring a hearing before the judge, Froeschner said.
Eligible matters may include:
- Payment plans
- Defensive driving requests
- Deferred disposition
- Compliance dismissals for expired registration, expired driver's license and defective equipment violations
Notable quote
"Whether it's improving communication, reducing wait times or providing more online options, our goal is simple: deliver better services while making government more accessible and user-friendly," Froeschner said.
