Missouri City City Council welcomes new member

Missouri City swore in one new City Council member and the recently re-elected incumbents at its Nov. 18 meeting.

Cheryl Sterling, a retired educator, beat incumbent Reginald Pearson in the Nov. 5 election to become the council member representing District A.

Sterling, along with Council Members Jeffrey Boney, Anthony Maroulis and Floyd Emery, took their oaths of office at the start of the meeting. A crowd of people filled the council chamber for the ceremony.

Pearson was recognized for his service to the city and presented with a photograph of City Council during his tenure.

“Council Member Pearson has served the community well for a number of years in numerous capacities since July 2016 to the present,” Mayor Yolanda Ford said. “Reginald Peason has earned the admiration and high regard of those whom he has come in contact and the affection of many citizens.”

At the meeting, Sterling was also chosen to represent Missouri City on the Houston-Galveston Area Council 2020 General Assembly and Board of Directors, a post that had been held previously by Emery.

The next Missouri City City Council meeting will take place after Thanksgiving on Dec. 2.
