MD Anderson Center holds ribbon cutting for diagnostic imaging clinic in northwest Houston

On Sept. 24, MD Anderson Cancer Center held a ribbon cutting for its new diagnostic imaging clinic in northwest Houston.

Per previous Community Impact reporting, the 45,113-square-foot facility was built at the site of a former 24 Hour Fitness location off Hwy. 249 and Jones Road.

The details

According to the website, MD Anderson diagnostic imaging services are for current patients, those who believe they may have cancer or have a confirmed diagnosis, and women needing breast evaluations or breast cancer screenings.

Habib F. Tannir, the Vice President of Diagnostic Operations at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, said the new facility is MD Anderson’s largest diagnostic imaging site and its second Northwest Houston location.

What else?

A few state-of-the-art features offered at the new cancer center inlcude:

• Three MRI scanners

• CT Scanners

• PET Scanners

• Ultrasound mammography screening and diagnostic

• Machines with artificial intelligence capabilities

Tannir said the new center also has a dedicated blood donor center, which facilitates blood donations in the community.

“MD Anderson is the facility that transfuses blood the most in the United States, and so we have a very big need for blood donations. And we really, really appreciate our donors,” Tannir said.
