Qualls and Ford are facing off in November’s local election for Position 1 on the Klein ISD board of trustees. Board President Doug James is seeking his fourth term and is running unopposed in the race for Position 2.

A seven-member board of trustees governs KISD, according to the district's website. Each member is elected to an at-large position for a term of three years in a nonpartisan election. An election is held each year for either two or three positions, per the district website.
