Lone Star College-North Harris appoints Archie L. Blanson as interim president

Archie L. Blanson has been appointed as interim president of Lone Star College-North Harris, according to a Jan. 2 press release.

Blanson is taking over the position from former LSC-North Harris President Gerald Fernandez Napoles, who now serves in the Lone Star College System office as vice chancellor and special assistant to the chancellor. A permanent position is expected to be filled later in 2020.

Previously operating as vice chancellor for LSCS, Blanson has worked alongside LSC-North Harris for more than 20 years, according to the press release.

Blanson's experience in education prior to his work within LSCS lies in his 39-year tenure at Aldine ISD. Having worked as both a teacher and an administrator, Blanson last served AISD as deputy superintendent overseeing the district’s operations department.

According to the release, Blanson was named the AISD's 2003 Boss of the Year, and in 2018, the district recognized Blanson by naming its newest facility, the Dr. Archie L. Blanson Career and Technical Education High School, in his honor.

Blanson holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Southern University, received a Master of Arts in education administration from Texas Southern University and graduated with a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University.
