Harris County breaks ground on Providence Gardens in north Houston

The Harris County Community Service Department broke ground on a single-family home development in north Houston called Providence Gardens, officials announced in a Jan. 19 news release.

The details

The 60-home development will be located at 16755 Ella Blvd., Houston. It is funded by Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery funds from Harris County, the Texas General Land Office and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, according to the release.

The project aims to provide housing for low- to moderate income households, according to the release.

Fifty percent to 75% of the homes will be sold to qualifying households at or below 80% of the average median income of Harris County.

Twenty-five percent to 50% of homes will be sold at market rate.

“This development is a great solution, providing safe and comfortable homes that are affordable,” Harris County Community Services Department officials said in a Facebook post.

What’s next?

Providence Gardens is slated to be complete in December, according to the release.
