From eateries to markets, there are several hispanic owned businesses to support during hispanic heritage month in the Spring and Klein areas. Hispanic Heritage month takes place from Sept. 15-Oct. 15 nationally. This list is not comprehensive.
With years of experience in the restaurant industry, Kevin Calzada said he took over ownership of Belle’s Kitchen in 2019 after the original founder moved away to pursue other ventures.
Belle’s Kitchen operates as a family-owned restaurant with homestyle breakfast menu items made in-house and is open from 6 a.m.-3 p.m. daily.

Buren Bakery
Located in the heart of Old Town Spring, Buren Bakery was founded by Puerto Rican native Alexandra Astacio in June 2024 to celebrate Puerto Rican heritage with authentic baked goods and Puerto Rican coffee.
A few authentic Puerto Rican baked breads offered include Pan Sobao, a traditional Caribbean white bread often and Quesitos, a puff pastry filled with cream cheese and finished with simple syrup
La Casa del Abuelo owner Jay Henriquez said he opened his own restaurant along with his nephews Yuri and Edgar Albarado in April.
With 28 years of experience working as a chef in hotels and health care facilities, Henriquez said he opened his own restaurant to honor his late father Miguel, who passed away in 2023.
La Casa del Abuelo’s recipes come from generations in the Jay Henriquez family.
“Our recipes come from our house, and we've created our own seasoning and flavors because we believe that there’s no better way to cook than homestyle cooking,” he said.
Owned by Nelson Villalobos Boscan, officials said Lacteos San Pablo Latin Market is now offering latin products in Spring. The market specializes in latin products from Goya and Su Sabor, a Colombian brand, to cheeses.
Lacteos San Pablo Latin Market offers products from different Latin countries including Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, El Salvador and Mexico. The market also plans to offer fresh cheese made in store daily.
Tacos Santos offers tacos, quesabirrias, burritos and quesadillas wrapped in handmade tortillas as well as tortas and asada fries. The eatery also serves handcrafted agua frescas, including horchata, jamaica and limon.
