La Casa del Abuelo owner Jay Henriquez said he opened his own restaurant along with his nephews Yuri and Edgar Albarado in April.
What's special about it?
With 28 years of experience working as a chef in hotels and health care facilities, Henriquez said he opened his own restaurant to honor his late father Miguel, who passed away in 2023.
Miguel Henriquez was known among his family as “el abuelo,” leading Jay Henriquez to name the restaurant after him.
Spring residents Jay Henriquez and Yuri and Edgar Albarado strive to offer a family-friendly environment where people can feel at home, Jay Henriquez said.
La Casa del Abuelo’s recipes come from generations in the Jay Henriquez family.
“Our recipes come from our house, and we've created our own seasoning and flavors because we believe that there’s no better way to cook than homestyle cooking,” he said.
Menu items include carne asada, pollo con tajadas, baleadas Hondureñas and pupusas. The eatery also offers handcrafted aguas frescas, inlcuding horchata, jamaica and piña made from scratch.
