For more than 50 years, Camp Doublecreek has been a cherished part of Central Texas summers, where kids build confidence, forge friendships and enjoy the outdoors. Camp Doublecreek has spent the past two years at Reunion Ranch in Georgetown and will continue there thanks to a successful partnership.

“Even without a home base for a while, our core values, structure, and traditions have stayed the same,” Director Dan Neal said. “Who we are as Doublecreek hasn’t changed—just the location.”

The rural setting promises the same family-centered spirit campers have loved for generations, with new spaces and amenities that enhance the experience.

A family-rooted legacy

In 1971, Carter and Trudy Lester combined their business and teaching backgrounds to create Camp Doublecreek, a safe, enriching day camp.

“They wanted Camp Doublecreek to feel like a true family,” Neal said. “Everyone called them Uncle Carter and Aunt Trudy—it wasn’t just a camp; it was like having an extended family outside of home.”

From the beginning, the camp has balanced fun with purpose, nurturing kids as campers and individuals. Its mission has always been simple yet powerful: to give children a place to play, learn and grow outdoors.

Camp Doublecreek creates experiences that help kids discover their potential, build confidence and grow through fun, hands-on activities guided by their core values—ICEE, which stands for inspire, challenge, engage and encourage.

A home away from home

Reunion Ranch has provided the perfect backdrop for Camp Doublecreek’s mission and values over the past two years. The rural setting gives campers room to explore, play and take on challenges without feeling confined. Covered facilities, courts and open fields allow for a wide variety of activities.

“Finding a space to support everything we do was key,” Neal said. “Reunion Ranch lets us stay true to our values: inspiring kids, challenging them, encouraging creativity and helping them engage fully.”

The continued partnership with Reunion Ranch allows Doublecreek to preserve and expand the classic camp experience. Campers can safely try new activities, build skills and connect with peers in a larger, dynamic environment with more space and natural surroundings.

Reunion Ranch strengthens the camp’s community, giving kids a place to belong, make memories and feel like family. The partnership promises the familiar summer spirit Doublecreek families love, along with new opportunities for growth and adventure for generations of campers.

As Camp Doublecreek settles into its home, the team continues to build on the traditions that make it a summer favorite. The camp’s three core programs offer a unique way for campers to experience the camp’s values—through classic adventures, high-energy challenges or hands-on horsemanship.

The three faces of Camp Doublecreek

Today, Camp Doublecreek operates three distinct programs, each with its own personality and purpose.

Day Camp at Reunion Ranch is the heart of Camp Doublecreek, offering a full day of structured fun, friendship and exploration for campers ages 4 to 14. Each week features a new theme, with singalongs, counselor challenges and all-camp celebrations that foster community.

Activities include:
  • Swimming and water games
  • Archery and field sports
  • Campwide games and relays
  • Singalongs and counselor challenges
  • Weekly celebration days
DC Adventures offers a thrill-packed experience for campers ages 10 to 14. It gives attendees an adventure filled experience with a focus on the high elements. The program also hosts school groups, corporate team-building events and community family fun days.

Activities include:
  • Two-tier high ropes course
  • Rock wall
  • Pool
  • Balance and obstacle challenges
  • Group games and team-building exercises
DC Riding Academy continues the camp’s love of horses. The academy is open to campers ages 7 to 14 and focuses on excellent horsemanship in an encouraging environment. Participants learn mounted and ground skills alongside camp games, community events and birthday parties.

Activities include:
  • Horseback riding lessons
  • Grooming, tacking and horse care
  • Horsemanship and ground-handling skills
  • Camp-themed games and activities

Where every camper knows that someone believes in them

At Camp Doublecreek, every activity, game and challenge aims to make every child feel seen, believed in and capable of more. All three locations give campers space to explore, take risks and grow in a safe, supportive environment.
