“We’re excited to explore new flavors and products while honoring our family’s legacy,” Social Media & Marketing Coordinator Kayla Simons said. “It’s about blending tradition with innovation so our customers can enjoy something familiar yet new.”
Where it started
Wild Honey Box began in 1994, when Kenny and Wendy Reed started backyard beekeeping with a few hives. What began as a hobby grew into a thriving business, expanding to more than 7,000 hives and earning a loyal following for its pure, raw honey.
From local markets to devoted regional fans, the company has built a reputation for quality and family-centered values that still guide the business.

The next generation leads
Now the family is welcoming the next generation to guide the company’s future.
Kayla Simons oversees marketing and social media, sharing Wild Honey Box’s story with customers and fostering a loyal following. Her husband, Dax Simons, serves as head beekeeper, managing day-to-day hive operations.
With an agricultural background, Dax fit the role, while Kayla grew up in the business, giving her a deep understanding of its story and customers.
Their daughter, Addley, is exploring natural skincare products, while their son, Jaxon, manages his own hives and learns the craft firsthand.
“Watching our children explore new ways to share honey and honey-based products while learning about the hives has been incredible,” Kayla Simons said. “It’s exciting to see them take ownership, bring fresh ideas and continue the family legacy in their unique ways.”
Spicing things up
The next generation is stamping Wild Honey Box with products that push the boundaries of customer expectations.
One of the biggest hits is the hot honey line, made with real roasted peppers. The flavors build in intensity—starting mild and finishing fiery—so customers can choose their perfect heat level:
3 Amigos: mild blend with a hint of spice
- Fire-roasted serrano: zesty, bold, medium heat
- Fire-roasted habanero: sweet heat with a fiery edge
- Diablo: hottest of the lineup, crafted for spice lovers

“Before we started, nobody was making hot honey with real peppers,” Kayla Simons said. “Most products were just liquid capsaicin, the pepper extract. Using actual roasted peppers gives ours a real, layered flavor, not one note.”
The hot honey is versatile enough for any condiment use—from pizza and wings to eggs and burgers.
Sweet innovations
Beyond the hot honey, the next generation is experimenting with new flavors and product lines that push the boundaries of customer expectations from Wild Honey Box.
Addley Simons leads in natural skincare products, crafting lip balms, lotion bars and bug-repellent bars using beeswax, shea butter and essential oils.
Meanwhile, their son, Jaxon Simons, is exploring creative honey flavor combinations at the tasting bar and managing his own hives. One of his creations, chocolate churro, blends chocolate and cinnamon into a sweet treat.

A family legacy continues
While the next generation leads new initiatives, the Reeds remain deeply involved in the business they built. They oversee operations, mentor the family and ensure that the quality and care that made Wild Honey Box a regional favorite remain at the heart of every hive and product.
Wild Honey Box plans to blend tradition with innovation. Customers can expect more unique flavors and creative honey-based products that highlight the family’s passion and expertise.
