Founded and led by Dr. Albert Carey, the clinic has grown from a single rented exam room into a dedicated practice space, serving patients across the Lake Houston area.
Dr. Carey didn’t always plan to specialize in pain medicine. His journey began with an interest in anesthesiology.
“As part of our anesthesia training, we rotated through the pain clinic, and I loved it,” Dr. Carey said.
After completing his training in Mississippi, he made a leap of faith, moving to Houston to build a career and eventually his own practice.
The clinic started with one borrowed room inside a family practice office, while Dr. Carey balanced anesthesia work on the side. Over time, the patient base grew, and so did the vision.
“I knew once we were busy enough, I’d like to move into a larger space. That ended up being here on Sam Houston Parkway,” Dr. Carey said.
That new office, opened just six weeks ago, marks a milestone in the practice’s evolution.
For Dr. Carey, growth has never been only about space; it’s about philosophy. He emphasized that what sets Dynamic Pain Care apart is the way patients are treated.
“Being in pain can sometimes be a shameful experience. When people come to see me, no matter what’s going on, ... they feel like they aren’t judged when they walk in. I’m very lucky to have a wonderful support structure behind the scenes, and that philosophy extends to our entire team. That includes our clinic staff, Angel and Jessica, who my patients cannot praise enough,” Dr. Carey said.

That connection often extends beyond the exam room. He recalled visiting a patient’s church after repeated invitations, where she proudly introduced him to friends. For Dr. Carey, that underscores that people return not only for results but also because they feel heard and supported.
Innovation plays a major role in the clinic as well. The field of interventional pain management is constantly evolving, and Dr. Carey makes it a priority to keep up. He frequently consults with colleagues, attends conferences and integrates new minimally invasive procedures into his practice. Most treatments are performed in-office, with the most advanced procedures requiring an outpatient surgery center.
Looking ahead, Dynamic Pain Care’s vision includes a stronger presence in the community.
“I’m discovering more about the Lake Houston area every day. We’ve made an effort to really get out there and learn more about this area. It’s very helpful when treating patients to understand the community around them,” Dr. Carey said.
While expansion and outreach are important, Dr. Carey said the greatest reward is hearing how pain relief changes lives. Patients have shared moments of joy: finishing a round of golf, picking up a grandchild or simply doing something they thought they’d lost forever.
From modest beginnings to a dedicated new office, Dynamic Pain Care continues to grow on the foundation of respect, innovation and community connection. For Dr. Carey, every milestone comes back to one mission: helping people reclaim the parts of life that pain has taken away.
