When guests step into Lois Head Spa, the usual buzz of Prosper fades into stillness. The lights are soft, the walls are touched with gold and the air carries faint notes of calming aromatherapy. This design is inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-sabi, with a hint of Bali retreat.

Each of the eight treatment rooms offers its own interpretation of zen, while a private VIP room provides a quiet escape for couples or those wanting more privacy.

What’s on the menu?

Lois Head Spa curates treatments that combine scalp care, relaxation and skincare into a holistic ritual, instead of traditional massages or facials. Packages are designed with specific guests in mind.

For first-time guests curious about scalp care, The Calm is the spa’s signature introduction which is a grounding 90-minute ritual that blends deep scalp cleansing with relaxation techniques. It’s designed to help anyone experience the essence of a head spa for the first time.

The Renewal treatment was created for new mothers.

“I struggled with postpartum hair loss, so I wanted to [create a space] for [mothers] to relax, while also checking self-cleanliness off the list,” owner Raven Mok said.

The Vitality package focuses on anti-aging for older clients, pairing scalp treatments with rejuvenating facial care.

Seasonal offerings add an element of surprise. The spa’s rotating Scalp Drop features limited-time blends of ingredients. This fall, it’s the Matcha Moon Reset, a combination of matcha clay mask, matcha scrub and strawberry lip balm. When the season ends, so does the treatment.

Next up is a warm apple-cinnamon inspired ritual for November and December.

“I take pride in sharing [these Scalp Drops],” Mok said.

Why scalp care?

The emphasis on scalp care might feel unusual in a market saturated with facials and massages, but it’s intentional. Just as facials cleanse the skin and dental checkups maintain oral health, the scalp requires attention.

“People [deep clean] their skin and their teeth, but they don’t do that for their scalp,” Mok said.

Every treatment starts with an examination of the scalp, and her own experience was eye-opening.

“When I did my initial [treatment], I was shocked at how red all of my hair follicles were,” Mok said. “I thought it was because of postpartum, but it was actually because I’m a busy mom and I’m not giving myself proper care.”

That realization shaped her mission: to help people address the root cause of scalp and hair health, rather than masking the problem with extensions, products or medication.

The impact

The spa is a neutral space that welcomes mothers, men and even those navigating profound life changes.

Mok described clients who have visited before chemotherapy, wanting to honor the ritual of their hair, and others who arrived in the depths of grief.

One woman had recently lost her husband.

“She said, ‘The fact that I’m here and you guys are washing my hair for me—it’s true care,’” Mok said.

Why Prosper?

The decision to open in Prosper wasn’t about traffic or location strategy. It was about home.

“I live in Prosper, so I want to make sure that we’re giving back to this area,” Mok said.

That commitment shows through partnerships with local businesses and events. Lois Head Spa plans to launch a membership that extends discounts to other neighborhood shops. Later this September, the spa will also host a Mahjong and massage night, blending cultural tradition with relaxation.

Looking ahead, Mok hopes to collaborate with OB-GYNs, foundations supporting families impacted by cancer and even local coffee shops for seasonal tie-ins.

Imagine sipping a signature apple-cinnamon latte to match the seasonal Scalp Drop.

For all of its unique treatments and playful seasonal features, Lois Head Spa is defined by something simpler: belonging.

“I just want to create a safe haven for everybody who walks in. It’s emotional for me to even reflect on this, because I never thought I would view a business as such a sentimental [part of my life],” Mok said. “People have so many stories to share, and I find it so interesting to be a part of their journeys.”
