After more than 25 years working in health care, franchise owner Bob Zimmerman and his wife, a designer, took a leap toward a new kind of healing—one that begins at home.
“We really wanted to help others,” Zimmerman said. “You may think, ‘How does a drawer help other people?’ When you really think about it, ... they change people’s lives.”
Art of Drawers designs custom drawer and pantry solutions that are as thoughtful as they are beautiful, crafted for accessibility, functionality and peace of mind. Each drawer system is made of solid wood, built with premium dovetail joints and backed by a lifetime Elation Guarantee.
However, it’s not just about the drawers. It’s about what they unlock: time, comfort, dignity and joy. Every project is a tailored solution, designed around how the client lives, cooks, moves and dreams.
“Some of our most recent five-star reviews are from pantry [projects]. People love how they can now use the space,” Zimmerman said. “Our drawers are absolutely beautiful. ... From natural maple to soft maple to walnut to oak, there are several different variations to match everyone’s cabinets and floors.”

The physical transformation is striking, but the emotional impact is even greater. Art of Drawers’ designs can profoundly improve the quality of life for people with mobility challenges, including those who use wheelchairs or experience physical impairments.
“Maybe someone has an impairment where they can’t get under their sink, for instance,” Zimmerman said. “We can design the drawers under the sink around all of the plumbing, so everything can be pulled right out to the person. They can access everything.”
What does the construction process look like?
Every project begins with deep listening. During an in-home consultation, the team explores the homeowner’s needs, frustrations and aspirations—then designs around them.
“We don’t just design. We design exactly what the client is looking for,” Zimmerman said. “That’s the most critical piece. ... The drawers are for the customer, and we want everything to be perfect for them.”
Precision matters. Once a design is finalized, every measurement is carefully captured down to the millimeter before customization begins. Within eight to 10 weeks, installation is completed.
“We really try to look at the functionality to make it most efficient for clients,” Zimmerman said.

Increasing a home’s value
While the day-to-day improvements are immediate, the long-term value is equally compelling. Custom drawer installations don’t just elevate daily living; they enhance home value.
“If someone is going to sell their home, ... they’re going to get more money out of it because of the customized organization,” Zimmerman said.
