As drivers head north along the Dallas North Tollway, past bustling intersections and open land, something shifts. The scenery softens, prairie grasses sway in the breeze, low stone walls surround the area and iron gates signal a quiet transition into a new world.

This is Cambridge Crossing, a master-planned community tucked into a prime piece of land at the Tollway and the Outer Loop in Celina.

“If people want to be in close proximity to places now, and even more so in the future, ... they'd be hard pressed to find another community that is so built around location,” said Matt Alexander, chief visionary and marketing officer at Cambridge Companies, the developer of Cambridge Crossing.

Inspired by classic English estates and countryside castles, the community blends grand design with Texas warmth and openness.

“I thought the market was ready for something a little more sophisticated,” Alexander said. “Our tagline is ‘English style with Texas charm.’ We think the community has been very well received.”

What’s new at Cambridge Crossing?

The community opened in 2020 and has been sold out for most of the past year, but new phases are available now.

“[This August] we’re delivering our next phase of lots, and we couldn't be more excited,” Alexander said.

The expansion brings a variety of new homesites to market, with builders including:Options range from 40-foot-wide rear entry homes to expansive 74-foot-wide lots. Backyard space is a priority, with many lots offering up to 60 feet of space.

“If you're willing to drive further north, you should get more [space],” Alexander said.

How is the community designed for real life?

From an extra-large community fitness center to included front yard maintenance, details are thoughtful and resident-focused.

“We feel like we're giving people an opportunity to put money back in their pockets and more time back in their lives,” Alexander said. “Someone's mowing their front lawn for them, and someone's planning events and engineering fun for them.”

The community even includes an onsite Celina ISD elementary school that just opened last year, and Alexander went to tour it.

“I walked up onto the second story and this [student] ... turned around. She showed me this view overlooking the lakes within the community and said, ‘Isn't it beautiful?’ ... It was just a phenomenal environment to learn and call home,” Alexander said.

How does it foster connection?

Cambridge Crossing aims to be more than a place to live; it’s a place to grow and gather.

“We really try to create a community [and a] quality of life ... that [residents] will remember today and tomorrow—that they'll be proud of,” Alexander said. “We want to do something that continues to grow and build wealth for these families.”

In total, the community will include eight miles of trails and two amenity centers. The current 6,700-square-foot facility includes:
  • Indoor event space
  • Cardio equipment, a weight room and studio space
  • Homeowners association offices
  • Playground
  • Pickleball and basketball courts
  • Resort pool with swim lanes, kiddie pool, snack bar and event lawn
The future second center will bring even more: an additional pool, tennis and pickleball courts, indoor gathering areas, and more fitness amenities.

A full-time lifestyle director plans 150 events a year for all ages.

“We're focused on bringing in food trucks, bands, carnivals and bounce houses,” Alexander said. “Let’s create the space and tools that can really build a community and make people proud of where they live.”

What will Cambridge Crossing mean in 15 years?

Alexander hopes future generations will see the value in what’s being built today.

“I hope that at the end of the day they're proud of where they live,” he said. “I'd also like to see it appreciate in value and stature, and be known as one of the best communities in Celina.”
