This summer, the team will welcome Dr. Mateo Alvarez, a new provider joining in July, and patients will continue benefiting from a second location at River Chase Plaza. Through every stage of growth, the practice remains grounded in its commitment to delivering personalized, full-scope eye care.

Full-scope care under one roof
“We have the comprehensive ability to cover not only glasses and contacts, but we have an extensive medical background with our doctors,” Director Bruce Cline said. “We work with many medical eye providers and co-manage eye surgeries, [such as] cataracts, LASIK, eyelid lifts, and disorders of the retina.”
Whether it’s routine vision care or managing complex eye conditions, patients at Landa Eye Center have access to a wide range of services in one place. Thanks to cutting-edge imaging technology, providers can do more than protect eyesight; they can help detect serious health conditions early.
“This [imaging technology] tells you everything about every [eye] disease possible, because [the eyeball] is so closely linked to the brain,” Cline said. “Providers can catch cancer early on. They can detect strokes and undetected diabetes. Our doctors have saved many lives.”

Caring for patients across generations
With a legacy that spans nearly five decades, Landa Eye Center is uniquely positioned to care for older adults in the community.
“Our practice is very established, 49 years in business, so inherently, we focus on [caring for an older] population ... We consider it an honor to have cared for our community for decades,” provider Dr. Angela Cline said.
At the same time, the practice meets the needs of patients at every age. That includes specialized care such as myopia management for children: a growing need as nearsightedness becomes more common in younger generations.
“Myopia management is basically a way to slow down the progression of nearsightedness that a lot of children have,” provider Dr. Brittney Smajstrla said. “There are multiple ways to do that. The most popular ways are through special eye drops called atropine, which are mild dilation drops that are used daily. There are also custom contact lenses that can be prescribed for myopia treatment.”
Everyday tips for healthy vision
In addition to in-office care, the team at Landa Eye Center encourages simple, proactive habits to protect eye health between visits.
“Blue light glasses are important. I actually wear them myself when I'm at work,” Dr. Patrick Clark said. “Also, using either allergy drops or dry eye drops when it's appropriate is helpful. That way, patients aren't suffering from seasonal allergies and dryness. If there's ever an eye issue, such as pain or anything out of the ordinary, it’s always important to come in as soon as that happens so we can assess the patient. Same-day emergency appointments are available for the care of our community.”
