The score comes from a third-party survey provider used by Brookdale Senior Living, which operates The Solana Preserve.
“We don’t know who receives the surveys or how many are sent out, which helps ensure we receive honest scores,” executive director Rena Knowles said. “To earn a 100%, residents have to rate us a 9 or 10 on every question.”
The survey covers a wide range of quality-of-life areas, including safety, food, activities, management, and whether residents feel respected and have a sense of purpose.

Why this score is special
What makes these scores notable is how rare they are.
“This doesn’t happen everywhere. In fact, it’s almost unheard of,” Knowles said. “Even though we have always scored high, five straight months of 100% is a major accomplishment.”
According to Knowles, the team doesn’t achieve this by chance.
“We listen to every concern, no matter how small it may seem,” she said. “What’s minor to one person might be a big deal to someone else. We treat everything as important.”
The secret to success
Knowles attributes the accomplishment to several standout features that showcase The Solana Preserve’s dedication to excellence in every aspect of community life.
From chef-prepared meals served daily with rotating menus and a wide variety of food for different dietary needs to a diverse calendar of events that includes everything from animal therapy to live entertainment, the lifestyle at The Solana Preserve is anything but ordinary. Residents have access to a wide range of innovative fitness classes, such as yoga, strength class and water aerobics designed to keep them active and engaged at every level.

Service is another area where the team shines. Maintenance and service requests are handled quickly and efficiently, with 24/7 front desk staff available to assist residents at any time.
Deciding when to transition to independent living
For seniors and their families, deciding when to transition to an independent living community and choosing the right place can be a challenging and emotional process.
Knowles frequently hears from prospective residents and their families that they have lived in their homes for a while and don’t want to move somewhere smaller or leave where they are familiar.
“My first question is, how many rooms do they actually live in? And who are they talking to all day?” Knowles said. “Socialization is the No. 1 reason people move into a community, and at The Solana Preserve, we create meaningful opportunities for connection every day.”
For those considering a move to a senior living community, consistent resident satisfaction scores like these offer meaningful insight. They reflect not only the quality of amenities and services but also the sense of belonging and respect that residents experience daily. Knowing that others have found happiness and purpose at The Solana Preserve can give families confidence in making this important transition.
