With a reputation for reliability and excellence, Rescue Air and Plumbing is a trusted resource for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing needs in the Dallas area. Campbell is a fourth generation mechanical contractor and is celebrating 11 years in business.

In this Q&A, Campbell detailed practical tips for extending the life of home systems and when homeowners may need to call a professional.
What are some simple things that homeowners can do regularly to extend the life of their air conditioning systems?
Campbell: Ninety percent of failures of air conditioning systems happen because of dirt build up. When you change your air filter, bring a Sharpie and write down the date so you know when you need to change it again.
A dirty unit can’t transfer heat effectively, which means your system won’t cool your home properly. You might notice your house won’t cool below the high 70s, even though the system isn’t technically broken. Often, simply changing your indoor air filter and thoroughly cleaning the outdoor unit can restore performance.
Are there any warning signs that homeowners should watch out for that might indicate an issue with their air conditioning before it becomes an emergency?
Campbell: If you're seeing spikes in your energy bill, especially in the heating season, there's a good chance that you've got a problem with your heat pump. That's a good indicator to just have somebody come take a look at it. In addition, if your outdoor unit sounds abnormal, it could need a refrigerant charge.
As we move into summer, what maintenance tasks should homeowners be thinking about?
Campbell: If you're having an issue, get somebody out sooner rather than later. If you call on a 100-degree day, you probably won’t get service that day. Be proactive. If you feel like something's a little off with your air conditioner, just be mindful of it ahead of time.
Plus, if you need a new air conditioning system, you don't want to buy it on a 100-degree day in July. We all know how supply and demand works. The manufacturers aren't offering great financing in the middle of July. They have the best promotions in the spring, early summer and late fall. Those are the best times to buy a new air conditioning unit.
What sets Rescue Air and Plumbing apart when it comes to your approach to customer education and service?
Campbell: What sets us apart is our company culture. We’re intentional about who we hire and how we train, and we make sure our team members genuinely enjoy what they do. If I ever found out someone was trying to sell a customer something they didn’t need—even if it was just a misunderstanding—I’d take immediate action. Protecting our reputation and doing right by our customers will always come first.
In addition, there are a lot of charities that we care about and support. Scottish Rite for Children is something I'm very passionate about and I'm very involved with them. We also support the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides scholarships to the spouses and children of America's fallen or disabled service members and first responders.
