Tired of home improvement headaches? See how Butler Contracting raises the bar in Bastrop

In the often frustrating realm of home improvement, where unanswered calls and unreliable service can be the norm, Butler Contracting in Bastrop is focused on changing the narrative.

Originating in 2015 as a small handyman service created to pay off student loans, the company has evolved into a thriving enterprise, earning the Best of Bastrop number one contractor award for the past seven years.

Their success is rooted in a commitment to exceptional customer experience, prioritizing top-notch communication throughout every project phase, from the initial inquiry to the finished project and follow-up.

The company has developed streamlined systems and processes designed to simplify the client experience. Potential customers can easily submit project requests through the company website, complete with the ability to upload photos and videos of the intended work. This is followed by a consultative phone call and the provision of a preliminary cost range. This efficient approach is supported by the business’ extensive experience.

“We do hundreds of projects a year, so I have a good idea of what the project is going to cost before I ever go out to [a client’s house],” owner Alan Butler said. “That saves clients the time and headache of going through the [average] process [of getting a price estimate].”

Furthermore, the company alleviates the burden of navigating complex permitting procedures, managing the entire process on behalf of the client.

Specializing in services such as fencing, automatic and custom gates, decks and porches, the company demonstrates a commitment to quality and durability. Their approach to fencing is particularly noteworthy, as they offer a lifetime warranty, a testament to their use of superior materials. They prioritize sourcing materials, including wood and lumber, from regional suppliers in East Texas, recognizing the advantages of using materials adapted to the local climate.

In response to recent changes in the real estate market, the company has adapted its services to meet evolving client needs. While continuing to provide larger-scale projects, they also focus on repair work, enabling homeowners to address immediate needs and plan for future improvements.

“[A lot of people] don't have extra disposable income, so we've been doing more repair work to get clients to the next level. That way, they can save up to do the big projects,” Butler said.

At the heart of their service is a focus on understanding the clients’ goals and needs. Butler emphasizes the importance of exploring the why behind each project.

“[When it comes to a fence project], I want to understand what the fence is for. Is the client trying to keep something in or out? Do they have small dogs or large dogs? Is it for privacy or decoration? What is the purpose of the project? We can consult with them on the best approach to take to get the ultimate results that they're looking for,” Butler said.

This client-centered philosophy leads to solutions that truly serve the homeowner's best interests.

In one instance, the owner advised a client against installing a fence for cattle, ultimately guiding them toward a more suitable and cost-effective option of leasing the land for hay production. This way, the client could still receive their agriculture tax exemption.

“I could have easily charged them to put up a barbed wire fence that would hold cows, but I wouldn’t have been fixing their problem,” Butler said.

Many times, Butler Contracting has received inquiries from prospective clients who are outside of the Bastrop region. That does not stop them from finding the right person for the job.

“We're big on supporting the community, and we've helped people that are out of town,” Butler said. “We get calls from people that have seen our Google reviews or YouTube videos. We help them find someone that would be a quality person to work with in their region. Even though they may not live right here in Bastrop County, we still help them out.”

From its beginnings as a solution to student debt to its current status as a respected community partner, Butler Contracting exemplifies the value of integrity, quality and a genuine commitment to client satisfaction.
