A transformative project is taking shape in Northeast Austin as the EastVillage mixed-use development continues to gain momentum. The 425-acre, master-planned community, located off East Parmer Lane between IH-35 and Hwy. 130, is designed to bring a downtown-like experience to the suburbs, blending residential, retail, office, hospitality and outdoor amenities into one cohesive destination.

“[This area] has been undeveloped for forever, so everyone is really looking forward to entertainment spaces, restaurants and retailers, as well as the ... outdoor music center,” Vice President of Reger Holdings Annie Atkinson said.

Vision and purpose

The idea behind the development was to bring the conveniences of Central Austin, such as Zilker Park, to a fast-growing but underserved area.

“We have that lifestyle component here, and we’re able to offer Northeast Austin and the surrounding areas a development they don’t have right now,” Atkinson said. “It’ll be a huge accomplishment.”

Hospitality and entertainment

EastVillage will feature three hotels—Homewood Suites, Hampton and Curio—two of which are expected to break ground this summer.

In terms of entertainment, a new concert venue, Center Stage at EastVillage, will debut with a weekend concert series beginning June 7. The events will be open to the public. Additionally, The Village Green, a 1.5-acre central park area, will serve as a gathering space for residents and visitors alike.

“We want [EastVillage] to be one of the funnest places to go in Austin, with the most activity and a thriving community,” said Gordon Reger, co-founder, principal and CEO of Reger Holdings. “[We’re making] it the place to live, to work, to play, to see live music, to go to a good restaurant and to hike in the park. It’s the go-to place.”
