Velocity Air A/C & Heating: Honest HVAC with no upselling, backed by 3 generations of expertise

Sponsored by: Velocity Air A/C & Heating

In the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry, where trust and technical know-how are everything, Velocity Air A/C & Heating has quickly established itself as a reliable name for both commercial and residential services in Houston. Founded in 2019 by Larry Hough, the company is built on decades of experience, a legacy of family craftsmanship and an unwavering commitment to honesty.

“I’ve been working in this industry for 40 years,” Hough said. “My step-dad owned an air conditioning business, and I started working with him when I was about 16. By 25, I was running it. That experience taught me that it’s not about how many jobs you do, it’s about doing them right.”

Owner Larry Hough who establish an honest HVAC company in Houston

Initially focused on commercial projects such as tilt-wall buildings and small hospitals, the company recently expanded into residential service and installation. That shift was driven by Hough’s son Stefin, Director of Operations, who saw an opportunity to bring their standard of excellence into people’s homes.

Residential HVAC services include:
  • Service and repair
  • Installation
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Furnace service
  • Duct work
  • System design
Quality over quantity

Velocity Air A/C & Heating values quality over quantity. They respond to service requests quickly, ensuring that each job is handled with the care and attention it deserves.

From diagnosing issues to replacing parts like fan motors, capacitors or coils, the company’s service techs have a reputation for tenacity and expertise.

“Our service techs are some of the best I’ve seen,” Hough said. “They won’t leave a job until they figure it out, and they genuinely care about making sure your AC works, especially in the Texas heat.”

Straightforward pricing, no gimmicks

That commitment to quality over quantity quickly made an impression. Even without advertising, the company’s reputation spread through word of mouth, with glowing reviews highlighting their honesty and focus on real solutions rather than unnecessary upsells.

“We often go in after another company says someone needs a whole new system, and sometimes it just needs a small fix,” Hough said. “If we can fix it, we fix it. We’re not trying to make a ton of money in a short time. We’re trying to do what’s right.”

Velocity Air doesn’t prioritize commission—a rarity in the HVAC world. That’s a deliberate choice to ensure customers get the service they actually need.

“Our goal is to take care of people, not sell them something they don’t need,” Hough said. “When techs aren’t chasing commissions, they can focus on what’s best for the customer, instead of trying to make as much money as possible.”

Some of the areas Velocity Air A/C & Heating serves include:
  • Tomball
  • Greater Houston area
  • Spring
  • Conroe
  • Katy
  • Friendswood
  • League City
  • Galveston
In the Texas heat, HVAC issues can strike at any time. Whether it’s after hours or during a weekend emergency, Velocity Air A/C & Heating is ready to help.
