Outdoor enthusiasts and casual runners alike are invited to lace up for the annual Trinity Falls 5K on Saturday, June 7.

This event offers a scenic run, live entertainment and an opportunity to give back. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit three local organizations: Warriors Keep of McKinney, Alliance of Elite Youth Leadership and the McKinney YMCA.

The event also coincides with National Trails Day. Director of Marketing for Johnson Development C’Ella Clayton said hosting the 5K on this day is a meaningful way for Trinity Falls to encourage outdoor activity while highlighting the importance of preserving and enjoying local green spaces.

What to expect at this year’s event

This year’s event offers the familiar race-day experience with a few fresh updates. Thanks to the newly opened Melissa Road, runners will now explore a new section of the community’s trail system.

“It'll be a little bit different in that runners are going to go under Melissa Road, and then they'll take the back path of the trail system around some additional lakes that they haven't been able to see in the past,” Clayton said.

Race participants can also look forward to a cool treat at the finish line—this year, instead of popsicles, Kona Ice will provide free snow cones to all registered runners.

Whether participating in the race or cheering from the sidelines, there’s something for everyone at this year’s event. Popular traditions like yoga sessions, fitness vendors, a DJ, story time and the ladybug release will also return, adding to the family-friendly atmosphere. Guests can also explore the community playground and visit booths hosted by local builders and community partners.

A growing community rooted in nature

In the past year, Trinity Falls has welcomed a number of exciting developments. Cadence Homes has joined the community with new townhomes starting in the $340,000s, designed to appeal to both young professionals and empty nesters looking for low-maintenance living.

Highland Homes recently opened a new 70-foot model, and a build-to-rent neighborhood developed in partnership with Tricon is now available. These single-family rental homes offer three- and four-bedroom floor plans with garages and access to all Trinity Falls amenities.

Additional growth includes the expansion of new residential phases, the upcoming opening of a day care center, and early work on commercial projects expected to bring retail and services closer to home.

What makes Trinity Falls stand out among other master-planned communities in the area is its natural beauty.

“The sunset over the lakes is really beautiful,” Clayton said. “If you're a person who really wants to feel tranquility and quiet when you come home from a busy day, this is a place for you.”
