After years as a self-employed artist, co-founder Sierra Bailey recognized the need for a place where people could gather beyond traditional settings like restaurants or bars.

She opened Maeve House with her husband Adam Fujawa in 2024 to provide a coworking and event space for people in South Austin.

Bailey said many “third spaces”—places people regularly visit outside of work or home—are not conducive to conversations. She designed Maeve House specifically for that purpose. The business is located at 1200 W. Slaughter Lane, Austin, inside of an old historic home, reinforcing Bailey’s vision for the space as a community living room.

“It really is about just coming and being able to hang out and connect with people,” she said.

While best known for its coworking space, she says Maeve House’s social memberships are at the heart of its mission.

For $50 a month, members gain access to a diverse lineup of events, ranging from yoga to karaoke to self-defense classes. Bailey said the social membership has particularly resonated with women in their 30s and 40s without children, a demographic that often struggles to find inclusive social spaces. However, membership is open to any individual looking for community and creativity.

“We're like a country club without food and alcohol,” Bailey said.

Upcoming events at Maeve House include:
  • Lunch club
  • Trivia night
  • “Spicy” book club
  • Movie night
  • Parachute gym class
  • Sound baths
  • Community socials
  • Round Top field trip
  • A group walk and talk event
  • Tarot card reading workshop
Since opening last October, many members have already joined the Maeve House community.

“Friendships are definitely happening, and people are already saying, ‘When I'm not here, I miss being there,’” Bailey said.

For those seeking a place to work, Maeve House features coworking memberships starting at $300 per month for part-time access—up to 80 hours per month—and $500 per month for unlimited use. The coworking environment operates Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., in a beautifully designed space that feels more like a welcoming living room than a traditional office.

Whether individuals are looking for a group of friends, some new events to get outside their comfort zone, or a place to work, Maeve House offers an inclusive space to belong.
