Located at 1850 E. League City Parkway, League City, the community offers independent living, assisted living and memory care. Its unique age-in-place model means residents do not have to move away from the community as their needs and abilities change.
The Grand Living at Tuscan Lakes team, which is known for its top-notch hospitality, builds relationships with residents to understand their personal needs to help them navigate their day, and maintain a sense of self and individuality.
“The LUMINATIONS program is about giving back quality of life and allowing someone that does have a cognitive disability to live their fullest life,” Director of LUMINATIONS Stephanie Elkins said.
The program's success stems from its individualized approach. Care is tailored to each resident's unique history and preferences.
“Every resident that comes to me is at a different pace or a different cognitive ability, and I need to be able to accommodate them where they are at that moment,” Elkins said. “A perfect example, if an individual worked for 50 years as a dispatcher at night, Grand Living has given me the ability to let them still keep that schedule they’re used to. It’s just phenomenal watching individuals thrive in their own environment.”
Because of this approach, Grand Living at Tuscan Lakes has many five-star reviews online, many of which mention Elkins by name.
Elkins also sends photos and updates regularly, showcasing both the good and bad days, which helps families feel connected and builds trust. This transparency is especially important for those who live far away and may experience guilt or worry about their loved ones. By sharing honest and frequent updates, Elkins and the rest of the Grand Living team provide reassurance about the care their loved ones are receiving.
The program distinguishes itself not only through personalized care but also through its thoughtfully designed living spaces. Recognizing that individual preferences vary, the community offers two distinct neighborhoods: Monarch Lane and Lavender Lane. Monarch Lane welcomes both men and women, while Lavender Lane provides a women-only environment, offering families the flexibility to choose the setting that best suits their loved one's needs.
“In a lot of these communities, memory care is an afterthought,” Executive Director Tony Trevizo said. “Memory care is in the back somewhere. Usually it's the third smallest building on that property. We don't do that here.”
Elkins said there are personal touches throughout the buildings, like mailboxes and picture displays, to help residents feel more at home.
Residents have access to the same events and activities as individuals in independent and assisted living. Residents can enjoy similar, appropriate events and programs with assistance from the LUMINATIONS team.
As the community has expanded, it has started to offer more events, such as Taste of Tuscan, a series of lunch-and-learn sessions that showcase the community’s amenities and culinary offerings. These events are a great opportunity to experience all that Grand Living at Tuscan Lakes has to offer.
