Learn how Austin-based technology company Base Power became one of the fastest growing power companies

Learn how Austin-based technology company Base Power became one of the fastest growing power companies

Sponsored by: Base Power Company

Founded by Zach Dell with a mission to strengthen the Texas power grid and make energy more accessible, Base Power Company in Austin has quickly expanded across the state. It now serves thousands of homeowners, saving hundreds of thousands in power bills and protecting against thousands of outages. In less than a year, the company has expanded across suburban areas outside Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston, bringing a fresh approach to the energy sector.

As a native Texan, Dell understands the challenges homeowners face when it comes to energy reliability, and the consequences of Winter Storm Uri in 2021 only reinforced the need for a better solution.

“After witnessing the devastating impact of the 2021 storm, I knew I wanted to create a solution that strengthens the Texas [power] grid and ensures more reliable power for our communities,” Dell said.

The resolution was to become the first and only energy provider in Texas to offer an automatic home backup power system as part of its energy plans.

Traditional backup power solutions, such as large generator systems, often cost between $15,000 to $30,000, making them an unattainable option for many homeowners.

“There are countless households that have considered backup power, but ultimately decided against it due to the high expense,” Dell said.

To bridge this gap, Base Power Company offers an affordable alternative, including home battery setup for only $495 and an annual membership cost of $195, which covers all service and maintenance.

“Base makes reliable power accessible to everyone by offering the same benefits at 1/20th of the price,” Dell said. “Knowing that we’re making energy security accessible to more households is incredibly rewarding.”

Beyond its technology and accessibility, Base Power Company sets itself apart with dedicated customer support. The company maintains an Austin-based team that is available around the clock, ensuring customers receive timely and knowledgeable assistance. From initial sign-up to ongoing maintenance, representatives guide homeowners through every step, making the transition to backup power seamless.

Power outages, particularly those caused by extreme weather, have made energy security a growing concern for Texas homeowners. Base Power Company’s reliable and cost-effective backup solution provides peace of mind during these unpredictable conditions.

“At Base, we believe every Texan deserves affordable, reliable power—not just a few,” Dell said.

As Base Power Company continues to expand, its mission remains clear: to be the modern power company Texans can rely on. With a focus on affordability, innovation and customer satisfaction, Base Power Company is poised to reshape the energy landscape in Texas for years to come.

“We’re excited by the growth we’ve seen since launching, and we’re eager to continue serving even more Texans,” Dell said.
