Located at 1330 W. University Ave., Georgetown, the community offers independent living, assisted living and memory care. Its unique age-in-place model means residents do not have to move away from the community as their needs and abilities change.
The Grand Living at Georgetown team, which is known for its top-notch hospitality, builds relationships with residents to understand their unique needs and interests to provide personalized care.
“Whether the resident loves golfing, reading, military history or scrapbooking, we're going to do it,” Director of LUMINATIONS® Doyal Kumar said. “Whatever your interest is, it’s going to become my interest because the residents are like my family.”
Unlike many memory care programs that are isolated from the rest of a senior living community, Grand Living at Georgetown fully integrates its LUMINATIONS residents into daily activities with independent and assisted living residents.
“Some communities separate memory care completely, but we include everyone together,” Kumar said. “Families love that, and so do the residents.”
Residents have access to the same events and activities as individuals in independent and assisted living. Residents can enjoy similar, appropriate events and programs with assistance from the LUMINATIONS team.
In addition to planning engaging activities and events, Kumar pays attention to the residents' emotional needs as well. Before being promoted to director of LUMINATIONS, Kumar worked at Grand Living at Georgetown as a caregiver. If a resident is having a difficult day, she or a team member will sit with them for one-on-one support.
“Sometimes, all they need is someone to listen to them,” she said. “That can make the biggest difference.”
The program distinguishes itself not only through personalized care but also through its thoughtfully designed living spaces. Recognizing that individual preferences vary, the community offers two distinct neighborhoods: Monarch Lane and Lavender Lane. Monarch Lane welcomes both men and women, while Lavender Lane provides a women-only environment, offering families the flexibility to choose the setting that best suits their loved one's needs.
