“My mom remembers me telling her when I was about 11 years old that I wanted to own my own daycare and I wanted to do it right,” Wolfe said.
Since opening her first Children’s Lighthouse location in 2008 in Little Elm, Wolfe has remained dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where children gain a foundation that sets them up for lifelong learning. After selling that location in 2021, she’s bringing this same commitment to Children’s Lighthouse in Prosper, where she and her team have been proudly serving families since 2019.
A holistic approach
One aspect of Children’s Lighthouse of Prosper that sets it apart is its whole-child approach, focusing on a child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
“We encourage the children to articulate their feelings and help them to understand and practice the values that we teach them in real life situations,” Wolfe said. “Character development is a natural part of who we are and we want it to be a natural part of their learning journey as well.”
As part of this goal, the school recently introduced Character Value Friends, an initiative that helps children relate to core values through interactive storytelling.
Each month, students are introduced to a new character—like Sedrick the Seal who represents kindness. Through storytelling, group discussions and hands-on activities, children learn how to apply these values in their daily interactions. Children also learn about values such as gratitude, cooperation, truthfulness, courage and patience. This approach helps make abstract moral lessons more tangible and relatable, reinforcing positive behaviors in a way that young learners can easily grasp.

Age-appropriate learning experiences
Children’s Lighthouse provides three different programs:
- Lighthouse BRIGHT®(6 weeks - 24 months): Infants and toddlers engage in sensory learning, including sign language and interactive prop boxes to introduce real-world concepts
- Lighthouse CARES® (2-5 years): Preschoolers participate in structured learning designed to develop academic, emotional and social skills
- xSTREAM Quest®(Kindergarten - 12 years): In this after-school program, children focus on community involvement and character-building activities
In addition to the detailed programs for each age group, Children's Lighthouse of Prosper also focuses on the parents and their relationship with the learning process.
“We have real-time updates posted throughout the school, we send emails, we have newsletters, and we communicate regularly through the classroom,” Wolfe said. “Early childhood lays the foundation for all future learning, so we want to make sure that the parents understand what we’re doing and stay involved.”
Community involvement
Beyond the classroom, Children’s Lighthouse is dedicated to creating a sense of belonging for both children and parents. The school hosts food drives, holiday celebrations, and Parents’ Night Out events, as well as partnerships with organizations like LovePacs and Toys for Tots.
Wolfe said she is proud of Children’s Lighthouse of Prosper’s involvement in the community and the sense of connection this creates for the school staff, parents and children.
“My future goal for our center is to continue to be a place where families feel like part of a family and not just part of a school,” she said. “I really feel like we have great relationships with our families and I'm very honored to have that.”
