Houston Installation Services earns women-owned business certifications, strengthening legacy of excellence

Houston Installation Services earns women-owned business certifications, strengthening legacy of excellence

Sponsored by: Houston Installation Services

Houston Installation Services, a leader in the furniture installation industry, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming a certified women-owned business. With both the Women-Owned Small Business and Women’s Business Enterprise National Council certifications, the company is poised to expand its presence and impact in the marketplace.

These certifications are a testament to Houston Installation Services’ commitment to excellence. More importantly, they reinforce the company’s 50-year reputation for stability and expertise, built through decades of dedicated service from its employees.

WOSB and WBENC certifications

The WOSB certification is a designation awarded by the Small Business Administration to businesses that are at least 51% owned and controlled by women. This certification opens doors to federal contracting opportunities, helping women-led businesses compete in industries traditionally dominated by larger firms.

Similarly, the WBENC certification is the gold standard for women-owned businesses, verifying that a company meets stringent eligibility requirements and is committed to diversity, innovation and business excellence.

"Earning these certifications isn’t just about expanding opportunities—it’s about recognizing the hard work and dedication of our team,” Chief Operating Officer Debbie Harbison said. “Our employees are the backbone of our success, and these certifications validate the stability and expertise we’ve built over decades."

A commitment to excellence and stability

For decades, Houston Installation Services has built a reputation for reliability and expertise in furniture installation. One of the company’s most defining attributes is its workforce, which boasts remarkable longevity.

Many employees have been with the company for over 10, 20 and even 30 years—a rarity in the industry. This consistency has played a crucial role in the company's ability to achieve and maintain high standards, making it a natural fit for certifications such as WOSB and WBENC.

“Our employees have the experience to recognize and fix issues immediately, which is crucial in our line of work,” CEO and Chief Financial Officer Joanne Cerda said. “Furniture installation isn’t always straightforward—sometimes pieces arrive broken, need to be adjusted or require creative problem-solving on-site. That kind of expertise isn’t something you can teach overnight; it’s built over years of hands-on experience.”

This deep level of expertise ensures that projects are completed efficiently and correctly the first time, saving clients both time and money.

Employees such as Ruben De La Fuente, who has been with the company since 1996, exemplify this commitment. With 29 years of service, De La Fuente has built strong relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met throughout each project.

"De La Fuente’s dedication and experience are invaluable to our team," Harbison said. "Having someone with nearly three decades of service means our customers get the benefit of both expertise and reliability. He understands their needs and ensures every project runs smoothly from start to finish."

Always hiring and growing

While many of Houston Installation Services’ employees have enjoyed decades-long careers with the company, leadership remains focused on growth and expansion. The company is continuously hiring and looking for individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic, accountability and pride in their craft.

“This is a skill-based trade,” Harbison said. “Furniture installation requires a carpentry skill set and attention to detail. We’re always looking for dedicated individuals who are willing to learn, work hard and become part of our culture. We don’t just want employees—we want people to stay with us long-term.”

The company remains committed to quality, expertise and a workforce that values longevity and skill—ensuring a bright future for both employees and clients alike.
