Skyline Dental in Houston is redefining the patient experience by combining advanced technology with personalized care, all while nurturing a goal to serve their community. Known for her passion and dedication, Dr. Stefanie Sunnes has turned her privately held practice into a beacon of modern dentistry.

For over 15 years, Dr. Sunnes has worked tirelessly to make high quality dental care accessible to her patients. Her practice is equipped with some of the most advanced tools in the industry, including 3D scan technology, which enhances both precision and patient comfort.

“We have a 3D cone beam tomography scan that allows us to see patients’ sinuses and airways, as well as the teeth, jaw and surrounding areas. If their airway is too small, we can refer them to a sleep apnea specialist,” Dr. Sunnes said. “We can also see bone problems, including bone cancer in the face.”

Along with her practice's technological advancements, Dr. Sunnes remains deeply committed to fostering meaningful relationships with her patients.

“I treat my patients like my family, and I communicate that to them. They appreciate that,” Dr. Sunnes said. “We talk; I ask them about their lives; they ask about mine, and we share stories. This practice has always been a big family to me.”

Dr. Sunnes’ ambitions extend beyond her practice. She dreams of dedicating one day a week to volunteering at a downtown mission that offers free dental care to the homeless. Recalling her experience volunteering there years ago, she described it as “amazing.”

“My goal is to work for Health Care for the Homeless. They provide free medical and dental care for the homeless,” Dr. Sunnes said. “There are vans that they walk up to and say, ‘This tooth hurts,’ and the dentists are able to treat their dental needs. I worked there six or seven years ago for only one day. It was an amazing experience and fills a great need in the community.”

Looking ahead, Dr. Sunnes has big plans for her practice. Over the next five to 10 years, she hopes to expand into a MedSpa type dental practice. Currently, she has an esthetician coming in once a week to provide facials, botox and fillers. She hopes to hire another dentist who specializes in procedures she currently refers out, such as complex root canals and difficult extractions. Growing the practice is also on her radar. With a vacant space next door to her office, she envisions a larger facility to accommodate more patients and additional staff.

As a business owner, Dr. Sunnes emphasizes the importance of investing in her practice to benefit her patients. Whether it’s upgrading technology or expanding services, she continually strives to provide the best care possible. Even her personal purchases often reflect her commitment to the practice.

“Dental has come such a long way. I waited 14 to 15 years to buy these new technologies. Now that I have them, it’s so much fun,” Dr. Sunnes said. “My husband asks if I’m going to buy a new car because mine is old. I say: ‘No, I want to buy this new machine for the office. It’s the coolest thing.’”
