Managing Owner Ellen Allam first became involved with OsteoStrong as a client after receiving an osteoporosis diagnosis.
“I got a bad DEXA [dual energy x-ray absorptiometry] scan when I was 58 and was very good about going to the gym,” Allam said. “I ran five days a week and went to the gym every other day to do weight bearing exercises, but I was still losing bone.”
After seeing this innovative approach work to regain her own bone density, Allam decided to open an OsteoStrong location with her husband in McKinney.
How it works
This service utilizes four specialized machines, which target the upper body, lower body, posture and core. These devices use a concept called variable resistance, where weight increases as the user moves into a stronger range of motion.
This allows clients to apply significant force—multiples of their body weight—to stimulate bone growth without the joint stress associated with traditional gym equipment.
“Every time a gymnast dismounts an apparatus, when they stick their landing, that reverberates through their whole skeletal structure and the impact of that landing is what keeps their skeletal structure so strong,” Allam said. “But if a 60 or 70 year old woman were to try to do uneven bars and dismount, she's probably going to hurt herself. This is a way that you can emulate that impact in a controlled environment.”
Members come in to receive services once per week. The process is quick, easy, and there’s no sweating, like a traditional work out.

What new clients can expect
New clients at OsteoStrong begin with a complimentary session. This includes a comprehensive wellness consultation to review medical history and ensure they’re suitable for the program. For safety, clients may be asked to provide DEXA scans to assess bone density and rule out advanced osteoporosis cases that could pose risks.
Sessions at OsteoStrong are structured and efficient. Clients start on vibration platforms to activate their nervous systems and prepare their bodies for the workout. They then progress through the machines, which focus on the upper body, lower body, core and spine. Each session ends with balance exercises to complement the bone-strengthening regimen.
The impact
Despite the significant forces involved, safety is paramount at OsteoStrong. Each client works with a dedicated coach who guides them through the process, ensuring proper form and preventing injury.
Allam said the program also emphasizes a holistic approach to wellness, advising clients on nutrition, stress management, and proper sleep to support overall bone health.
This is in line with OsteoStrong’s mission to help clients age gracefully.
“As you age, you degenerate,” Allam said. “You're like an old car. You have to do maintenance on your body to keep it running as efficiently as possible. You're still going to age, but you want to do it gracefully.”
