In a time when public schools face ongoing funding challenges, the Plano ISD Education Foundation is stepping up to fill the gap—raising much-needed resources for the district's students and educators. And what better way to do that than with a fun, creative event that brings the entire community together?

Enter 2025 SKI Plano, a Barbie and Ken Winter Adventure designed to raise vital funds that will benefit a wide range of programs throughout Plano ISD.

Event details

This year’s SKI Plano event, set for Feb. 8 from 6-11 p.m. at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel at Legacy West located at 6007 Legacy Drive, Plano, promises a lively evening to support Plano ISD.

For nearly 30 years, the SKI Plano fundraiser has helped raise unrestricted funds that directly support students and educators throughout Plano ISD.

"These funds are essential because they allow us to be flexible and respond to the district’s changing needs,” SKI Plano co-chair Laura Retta said.

This year, the event will embrace a fun and festive twist with its theme, Barbie and Ken Winter Adventure, creating an exciting atmosphere that promises to elevate the evening's festivities.

This year’s Barbie and Ken Winter Adventure theme promises to elevate the festivities, with entertainment including live and silent auctions, raffles and the new Cork and Fork game. For $25, guests can pull a cork for a bottle of wine or a fork for a gift card to a local restaurant. The evening will also feature live music, dancing and exclusive auction items like vacation packages and sports memorabilia.

Tickets for the event are $175 per person, and sponsorship opportunities are also available, with table sponsorships starting at $2,000. For those looking to make a larger impact, various sponsorship levels are available, starting at $3,500, offering unique benefits and recognition at the event.

"SKI Plano is truly an event for the entire community. You don’t need to have a child in the district to attend—this event is for anyone who wants to make a difference,” SKI Plano co-chair Jenelle Berry-Cook said.

Supporting Plano ISD

SKI Plano attracts nearly 600 guests each year to support the students and teachers who make Plano ISD exceptional. Last year, the event raised over $400,000, and the foundation aims to surpass that total in 2025.

Proceeds from SKI Plano have helped provide $100,000 in classroom resources through the CORE Store and supported the Plano ISD Welcome and Enrollment Center, which offers essential services to students and families, including enrollment support, free immunizations, a clothing closet, and a food pantry. The event also helped fund $125,000 in scholarships for 5th-grade science camp, enabling nearly 800 students who would not have otherwise.

Plano ISD Education Foundation

These efforts are central to the mission of the Plano ISD Education Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing education for students and staff within Plano ISD. Since 1993, the foundation has raised over $24 million to fund scholarships, teacher grants, and innovative initiatives beyond traditional school funding.

“The foundation’s goal is to ensure every student in Plano ISD has the resources they need to succeed,” says Berry-Cook. “We empower teachers, support innovative programs and strengthen the community by providing critical funding outside traditional school budgets.”
