The institute aims to provide scientific evidence for biblical accounts through scientific research, conferences, podcasts, a bi-monthly magazine and a science and earth history museum located at 1830 Royal Lane, Dallas.
The Discovery Center is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring wheelchair-friendly paths, ample seating throughout the exhibit hall and manual wheelchairs available on-site for visitors who need them.
“We make sure that it's an engaging and comfortable experience,” Director of Media and Marketing Michael Hansen said.
Docents stationed throughout the museum provide engaging and informative interactions, ensuring guests can explore at their own pace.
“This is a good lifelong learning opportunity,” Hansen said. “We provide a lot of different things for people to learn about, whatever their preferences might be. We have the exhibit hall, planetarium shows, and the special events and seminars that provide insights that could challenge someone's faith and encourage them to grow in their knowledge.”
Discounted admission is available for visitors age 60 and older, and group rates are offered for church groups, senior homes or community outings with 12 or more participants. The center also offers membership options, which are ideal for grandparents who regularly bring their grandchildren to the museum.
ICR membership options include:
- Basic Family Membership: This membership costs $160 and includes general admission for two adult pass holders and up to 10 grandchildren (ages 17 and under) per day, early access entry and 10% off at the ICR Discovery Store.
- Premium Family Membership: This membership costs $200 and includes daily planetarium tickets, 12 guest passes per year, 15% off at the Discovery Store, and invitations to exhibit previews and special events.
Greg F., who volunteers as a docent, said he has received many notes from guests about his warm and knowledgeable interactions.
“The grandmas, grandpas, aunts, and uncles with whom I have interacted while volunteering as a docent at the Discovery Center have had so many questions and have expressed so much gratitude for the Bible-affirming and faith-strengthening displays available throughout the Discovery Center,” Greg said.
Randy, a docent and senior himself at age 70, shared his passion for personally guiding seniors through the Discovery Center.
“You’re never too old to adopt a new worldview,” Randy said. “Being open to a new worldview is a potentially powerful thing.”
Seniors can also attend events at the Discovery Center throughout the year. Upcoming highlights include the Made in His Image seminar in January. This free event requires registration to ensure seating and has been popular among local adult visitors.
