Christ Fellowship McKinney’s new senior lead pastor Aaron Armstrong said his vision for the church is to continue its 27-year legacy while fostering a deeply connected and mission-driven community.
Armstrong will preach his first sermon at Christ Fellowship on Sunday, Dec. 1. He received his Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and has been living and working in the Dallas area since 2003.
“I was a senior pastor at Dallas Bible Church for the past nine and a half years, and I was a singles pastor at Northwest Bible Church before that and a local outreach minister at Northwest Bible Church for about the five years before that,” Armstrong said. “I've been invested here in Dallas for quite awhile.”
Previous senior pastor Bruce Miller, who founded the church in 1997, is transitioning to the role of founding pastor. He will not have day-to-day operational leadership responsibilities, but will be available to care for the church community and mentor Armstrong during the transition.
Armstrong said he wants to build on Miller’s legacy and continue building a church that is welcoming and impactful.
“I would say I've always dreamt of a sent church. That means a church that's willing to get up out of the pews and outside the walls of the church and to the people that we live around on a regular basis. [They will] engage in such a way that they not only know about the love of Christ, but they can actually experience it through us,” Armstrong said.
In terms of leadership style, Armstrong said he aims to create a culture grounded in humility and hope. His philosophy is that effective leadership is about inspiring others to grow and be their best, both in their personal lives and in the church’s shared mission.
“I hope that they're going to see a humble and strong leadership at the same time,” he said.
Under Armstrong's leadership, Christ Fellowship aims to continue its legacy of service and outreach. The church is actively involved in various community initiatives, including partnerships with local schools, nonprofits and organizations supporting those in need. Armstrong plans to build upon these existing partnerships and explore new opportunities to make a positive impact on the community.
“We’re surrounded by vibrant communities, and we want to continue investing in them,” Armstrong said.
One of Armstrong's key priorities is to foster a multigenerational and multicultural community where people from all walks of life feel welcomed and valued. He believes the church should be a place where people can connect with one another, grow in their faith and serve their community.
As Armstrong settles into his new role, he invites the community to join Christ Fellowship. The church offers a variety of programs and services for people of all ages, including worship services, Bible studies, growth classes, small groups and youth ministries.
Community members are invited to attend Armstong’s first Sunday service as senior lead pastor on Dec. 1. The church offers services at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. in English, Spanish and online. Christ Fellowship is located at 2801 Orchid Drive, McKinney.
