With advanced technology and a quality healthcare team, women can find support for every stage of life at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Grapevine. Known as a tertiary care center, the hospital provides comprehensive care for even complex needs—meaning women can stay in the local community for their care.

In maternal health, the hospital offers everything from prenatal care, maternal-fetal medicine and IVF treatments to post-delivery care for babies born prematurely. Baylor Scott & White – Grapevine is a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which cares for babies born as early as 23 weeks' gestation.

“Several babies stayed over 100 days this last year in our neonatal ICU,” President Naman Mahajan said. “That's over three months that mom and family drive to their local hospital, take an elevator ride upstairs and get to spend the entire day with their baby instead of driving to downtown Dallas or Fort Worth to a children's hospital. What we want to do is offer those tertiary services here locally to our community.”

In addition to neonatal and maternity care, Baylor Scott & White – Grapevine also provides advanced services for women facing other health challenges. For example, the hospital offers robotic-assisted surgery for uterine and abdominal conditions, such as a prolapsed uterus.

“We offer advanced robotic technology, which usually allows for quicker recovery, fewer complications and a lower hospital length of stay,” Mahajan said.

The hospital's comprehensive women's services extend to breast health as well. The medical center offers 3D mammography technology at its Women's Imaging Center, which sees over 3,000 women monthly for mammograms. It also has an on-site female breast radiographer with the ability to meet with patients during their appointments.

“Preventive healthcare is really where we need to focus to keep our community healthy,” Mahajan said. “Moms and women typically are the household drivers of health. By providing them with education, the ability to learn about all of the great services that we have, hopefully, that will allow them to also receive preventive healthcare.”

To continue meeting community needs, Baylor Scott & White – Grapevine is expanding with a new women’s hospital under construction.

“This hospital within a hospital will offer specialized treatment for women,” Mahajan said. “The team will be specifically trained for women's health. Patients will come into a separate entrance and check into the hospital, whether to deliver a child or for some type of surgery. It will be optimized care for our women in the community.”

The new space will include two additional operating rooms, a robot for minimally invasive surgeries, 20 new patient rooms, and labor and delivery facilities with advanced equipment.

This expansion is in line with Baylor Scott & White – Grapevine’s mission to provide quality healthcare to nearby communities.

“You don't have to look outside of Grapevine for high technology, high surgical intervention, high-risk pregnancies, or even prenatal care or a premature child,” Mahajan said. “We can take care of all those things here locally.”
