After being open for just two years, Grand Living at Riverstone has been awarded as the best active adult retirement community and assisted living community in Fort Bend County, Katy and Fulshear by Living Magazine. The community was also recognized as the best memory care community in Fort Bend County.

The community offers independent living, assisted living and memory care with outstanding hospitality. With a range of activities, amenities and a unique age-in-place model, Grand Living at Riverstone offers a caring community for seniors.

“Our team effort has been phenomenal,” Executive Director Gina Koons said. “We work hard to maintain the Grand Living standards—which are high—and that's what luxury living is all about. To achieve awards and be able to make that happen in this marketplace has really been wonderful. We're very proud of what we've been able to accomplish. And also our positive resident feedback is priceless.”

Grand Living at Riverstone is a lively community with a wide variety of events for residents to enjoy. Residents can also enjoy a social hour four times a week, a heated pool, the Grand Spa and Fitness center, the Forum theatre, a salon, a library, and three dining rooms where from-scratch chef-prepared meals are made daily.

The community experienced significant challenges during Hurricane Beryl, but Koons said the staff was able to keep residents safe and continued to provide high-quality service.

“We lost power for four days,” Koons said. “That was tough because we had 150 seniors here, but we had a generator, and that helped us get the three meals on the table. We had a staff that voluntarily stayed in the community for those four days to make sure that the residents were accommodated for and that they were safe. I can't begin to say enough about the heroic efforts of the staff because they made what could have been disastrous so much more comfortable for the residents. We had residents crying because they couldn't believe how well we were taking care of them during that time. They were just overwhelmed.”

Koons said the Grand Living staff went above and beyond, and was still able to serve residents from-scratch meals daily.

“Our chef and her team just worked relentlessly to make sure that every resident did not go without the promise of the quality of food that we serve,” Koons said. “There was nothing frozen, and everything was still made from scratch as usual, the residents were totally impressed.”

Although staff members were not required to, many team members volunteered to stay at Grand Living at Riverstone overnight to make sure the residents had what they needed.

“There were 30 staff members who stayed,” Koons said. “They slept on air mattresses, they slept on the floor, they slept wherever they could sleep ... the overwhelming volunteers of the staff and the grateful residents that got us through it.”

This dedicated and caring staff is what sets Grand Living at Riverstone apart from other communities. To schedule a tour of Grand Living at Riverstone or to learn more about the community, visit its website.
